Yarn: Wendy Fusion in Fengreek.
Pattern: Short Row Rib Scarf (New Link).
Needles: 5.5mm
Notes:I do prefer the colours of this colorway to the other one I brought, and I think this pattern really shows off the variation well. I love the feel of this yarn, for me it is perfect for making a scarf with both warm and soft (I would actually say it is snuggly).
ETA: If you are looking for this pattern is it available here.

Yarn: Knitwitches Sock Yarn in Evening Sunset.
Pattern: Monkey from Knitty.
Needles: 2.5mm
Notes: For the last year, every socks knitter has made themsleves a pair of Monkey sock, as every reader of this blog knows I am always late of the starting blocks when it comes to knitting trends. What I didn’t realise was reason knitters love this pattern is the simplicite of the pattern and the amazing final product. Like with Jaywalkers socks, the pattern is easy to memorise and looks fantastic.
When we went to Ally Pally last summer, Laura had done her research and discovered Knitwitches, when we got to the stall all of us were amazed at the colours, at one stage I think I had six colorways of the sock yarn in my hand at one stage, this was one of the colors I came home with. I love the brightness of the purple.

4. Cascade 220 – Heathers, 5. Cascade 220 – Quarto, 6. Cascade 220.
I did have big plans to start the year as a two-project-gal, to stash bust and not to develop startitis. Of course this wasn’t going to last long, I went a little mad online, was planning on finally getting around to ordering my Knit Picks Options Needles and Nickel DPN sets. (I got even some cash for Christmas I wanted to spend), then I wanted to buy some Cascade Yarn to make felted hot bottle covers (I went really mad here and brought four types), and then I remember the lovely mirage sock yarn Emms was using at Alice‘s Knitmas Party, so of course I have to buy some.
I have been really good in regard to not starting projects, for most this month I have only had two pairs of socks on the needles. I was planning on casting on the Ene shawl (as it was the poll winner last month), however, I am not sure if Shimmer is the right yarn for this project – I think I will get some Knitwitches Silk for this project.
Instead I cast on a Short Row Scarf, using Wendy Fusion yarn, I felt the colour runs where too long to really show off the entrelac pattern, this pattern is much better suited, as each section seems to be a “different” colour.

I have been really bad and writing (and knitting) lately, Jason and I spent last week celebrating that fact we have been together for 10 years. It seemed a little silly celebrating our “dating” anniversary when we have our first real anniversary coming up – but it was such an achievement we thought it needed to be marked!
I wanted to start the new year off with no projects on the needles (and then start stash-busting in the new year), but I didn’t get a chance to finish my monkey socks, over the last few weeks, I have been busy working on Broadripple Socks – this is a fast knit and uses 3.25mm needles so should be finished soon… I have also cast on #One Husband Socks, for Jason – this will be the first thing I have knitted for him and he seems excited – he has already warned me I can’t get second sock syndrome with these – it seems he does listen to my knitting ramblings!

Yarn: RY Classic.com Cashsoft DK in Ballard Blue.
Pattern: Midwest Moonlight from Scarf Style.
Needles: 4.25 mm.
Notes: The pattern states you should repeat the lace pattern 25 times, I just kept on going until I ran out of yarn and ended up completing about 32 repeats.
Note: This project was finished in 2007, but I didn’t get a chance to blog about it.

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Classic AL in North Sea.
Pattern: Dashing from Knitty.
Needles: 4.5 mm.
Modifications: I wanted to make smaller version of these gloves – something more like Fetching, so I adapted the pattern a lot.
I did the first cable row after 12 rows. I started the thumb opening after 9 more rows.
Then because of the shorter pattern, I had to move the thumb so the cables sat in the right place, so I knitted 5 stitches (for the left glove, and 35 for the right glove), the made the thumb opening, in the normal way.
Finally, I only knitted 12 rows after the opening.
Note: This project was finished in 2007, but I didn’t get a chance to blog about it.

My Christmas started out great, at home with pretty tree, surrounded my my family and getting some fabulous presents. We got to catch up with the extended family at my in-laws Ruby wedding anniversary, I even got to finally meet the newest member of the family… and then over the weekend the deadly virus struck and I got the flu! I was even too ill to knit. So I didn’t get to finish all my projects in 2007.
