North

Posted by Dee under General

As part of Project Spectrum, Lolly has also set a photography challenge to get people to explore their own geography. I am really keen to explore this idea more, get out and about and explore all directions in the city (or country).

I would say that living in London, it is obvious that the river splits the city into two halves. I have lived here my whole life and spend the majority of my time on the north side of the river, in fact when I do cross the river I nearly always get lost!

Of course, the is the larger North/South divide across the country, living down south I rarely venture up north in fact until meeting Jason 11 years ago you could count my trips past the Watford Gap* on one hand.

Since meeting Jason, I have had the chance venture up north more often, visiting family and friends, exploring this country and of course going to watch our beloved Liverpool FC. Last week to celebrate our second wedding anniversary Jason and I once again, ventured to Anfield.

Although this photo isn’t facing North, it does show what I love the most in the North.

* I have to admit I still get excited going past the services on the M1, and I was extremely impressed with this page on Wikipedia.

PS Directions

Posted by Dee under Project Spectrum - Directions

The fourth cycle of Project Spectrum started this month, This year has provided another interesting theme to craft around taking inspiration from the Directions of the Compass. Then using colours, materials, elements and seasons associated with the directions to craft with.

The first bi-monthly installment started with North, Green, Stone, Earth and Winter (as it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere). As always this is more of a low pressure project, than a strict knit along. Lolly explains it far better than I could.

The last cycle encouraged me to destash along a colour theme. And also introduced me in gardening in a tiny space, something I am hoping to continue this month. Unfortunately my chili plant didn’t not survive the winter months, but I have already started getting the mini flowerbed in front of our house ready for the spring.

Malabrigo March

Posted by Dee under Finished Projects 2009, Socks

On Ravelry this month has been dubbed “Malabrigo March,” a chance to explore all the wonderful yarn produced by Malabrigo. Since Alice started stocking their sock yarn last autumn, I have collected a nice little stash.

On the Socktopus Board, we are having a mini malabrigo sock yarn, we selected a few patterns, then after a vote we decided on the Vinnland pattern. There is now a rebellion group that is knitting the Hourglass. I have opted to stick to the original plan and knit the Vinnland in Indiecita and hopefully if I have enough time I can cast on the Hourglass in Violeta Africana.
