Midwest Moonlight Finished

Yarn: RY Classic.com Cashsoft DK in Ballard Blue.
Pattern: Midwest Moonlight from Scarf Style.
Needles: 4.25 mm.
Notes: The pattern states you should repeat the lace pattern 25 times, I just kept on going until I ran out of yarn and ended up completing about 32 repeats.
Note: This project was finished in 2007, but I didn’t get a chance to blog about it.

Dashing

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007 — Dee @ 3:50 pm

Dashing Finished

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Classic AL in North Sea.
Pattern: Dashing from Knitty.
Needles: 4.5 mm.
Modifications: I wanted to make smaller version of these gloves - something more like Fetching, so I adapted the pattern a lot.

I did the first cable row after 12 rows. I started the thumb opening after 9 more rows.

Then because of the shorter pattern, I had to move the thumb so the cables sat in the right place, so I knitted 5 stitches (for the left glove, and 35 for the right glove), the made the thumb opening, in the normal way.

Finally, I only knitted 12 rows after the opening.

Note: This project was finished in 2007, but I didn’t get a chance to blog about it.

Hourglass Sweater

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007, Hourglass — Dee @ 9:53 pm

hourglass

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Classic AL in North Sea (Darker Blue) & Rooster Almerino DK in Sugared Almond.
Pattern: Hourglass Sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts .
Needles: 4.5 mm.
Notes: Well, I did finish this sweater in a month - even I am shocked. I loved this pattern, simple stocking stitch on the round on large-ish needles. I think my love of this sweater was doubled with the combination of my Addi Turbos and the lovely soft baby alpaca/merino yarn.
Modifications: I made the Medium (41) sized sweater for the body, but found the arms to be too wide, so I cast on the next side down for the sleeves, I also found the length of the arms to be way too long (about two inches). As mention on several blogs/boards, I had to add several more rows of decreasing, I am not sure how many I ended up doing, I just kept knitting and randomly trying it on until it fit.

My creation
1. Hourglass - Hem, 2. Hourglass - Side, 3. Hourglass - Raglan

Entrelac Scarf

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007, Scarves — Dee @ 5:47 pm

Entrelac Scarf

Entrelac ScarfYarn: Wendy Fusion in White Pepper.
Pattern: Entrelac Scarf.
Needles: 5.5mm
Notes: I modified the pattern to make this scarf a little thinner, I did the squares over six stitches and rows instead of eight, so the scarf was made over 24 stitches.

As for the yarn, as I mentioned before, I was upset with the colour of this yarn, I was expecting it to be more grey-ish, also I am not sure if it great for this pattern, I think you need a yarn with more variegations, maybe this yarn is better suited to a Chevron or Multi-directional Scarf.

Baudelaire

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007, socks — Dee @ 5:54 pm

Baudelaire

BaudelaireYarn: Knit Picks Palette in Brindle Heather.
Pattern: Baudelaire from Knitty.
Needles: 2.5mm
Notes:I actually finished these socks a while ago, but never blogged about them, and as I was wearing them today (with my Belle Shoes), I thought I should write about them. This was my first attempt at toe-up socks, I had a little problem with the cuff being too tight - but I changed to a thicker needle for the rib and it was fine.

Pomatomus

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007, socks — Dee @ 5:59 pm

Pomatomus

Yarn: Natural Dyed Studio Alpaca/Silk - DK in Midnight Ice.
Pattern: Pomatomus.
Needles: 2.75mm.
Notes: These were the first socks I experienced SSS with - at first I thought it was the pattern - but once I cast on the second sock, it seemed to knit up very quickly!

I loved this yarn - the colours are beautiful and it knitted up fabulously - I have even seen they have some more on eBay (I can’t buy more can I?)

Lace Scarf

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007, Scarves — Dee @ 10:48 pm

Lace Scarf ECU

Lace ScarfYarn: Knit Witches Silk Laceweight in Storm Grey.
Pattern: Lace Scarf from Debbie Bliss Pure Silk Collection (Link to Ravelry).
Needles: 3.25mm
Notes: There is not much to say about this pattern, it is a really simple lace repeat, but the silk yarn makes it really dramatic. I used the laceweight yarn rather than the DK the pattern suggests, this and the smaller needles to made a skinnier scarf, I just kept knitting until the scarf was about 80 inches.

Gretel

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007 — Dee @ 2:30 pm

Gretel

GretelYarn: Knit Picks Andean Silk in Navy.
Pattern: Gretel Beret from Ysolda.
Needles: 3.75 mm & 4.5mm.
Notes: I started out knitting this pattern really quickly, I knitted the regular version so it didn’t take long at all, I couldn’t get the decreasing right, so I kept ripping it back, and eventually gave up, whilst I was in South Africa Ysolda released a newer version of the pattern and then it was completed pretty quickly.

At first I was concerned about knitting cables on circular/double pointed needles but I found it was pretty easy - this is one of those looks harder that it is patterns - to be honest I think it could be knitted up in a day.

Shrug

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007 — Dee @ 3:34 pm

Shrug Back

Finished ShrugYarn: Debbie Bliss Pure Silk in 07.
Pattern: Shrug from Pure Silk.
Needles: 3.25mm and 4mm.
Notes: I didn’t make many modifications to the pattern, only on the shoulders, where I used short row shaping for the shoulders and also grafted the shoulder seams.

I actually finished this project over the summer and I was waiting for the perfect sunny day, to model the shrug for my blog. However, our summer was non-existant so the photoes where never taken, I wore this shrug over the weekend and remembered I needed to take the photos.

Le Slouch

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007 — Dee @ 3:16 pm

Le Slouch

Le SlouchYarn: Berroco Jasper in Blue Bahia.
Pattern: Le Slouch (pdf file).
Needles: 4.5mm.
Notes: I opted to knit this beret as stocking stitch rather than the seed stitch as the yarn was so stunning, I didn’t think it needed the pattern.

As the pattern says this hat is the perfect quick fix project to update your wardrobe, seeing all the berets in the stores at the moment, I knew I had to knit one. But the best thing about this hat it is great for wearing on bad hair days.

Fetching

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007 — Dee @ 10:26 am

Fetching

Yarn:Knit Picks Andean Silk in Navy.
Pattern: Fetching from Knitty Summer 2006.
Needles: 3.75mm DPN.
Notes: The write up for this pattern on Knitty calls these gloves an “instant knitting gratification” and I have to agree, I sat down over the weekend to watch a few movies and my the credits of the second movie I had a pair of fingerless gloves.

After reading some comments on Ravelry, I discovered it is adviced to knit this mitts with 3.75 needles rather than the 4mm the pattern suggests. I also added an extra set of the 4×1 rib and cable row, just to make the wrist part longer. Because of the modification, I ended up using a little over one ball of yarn for these mitts.

Chevron Scarf

Filed under: Finished Projects 2007, Scarves — Dee @ 10:40 am

chevron scarf

Yarn: Araucania Pomaire 6 (Blue) & 10 (Green).
Pattern: Chevron Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts .
Needles: 6 mm.
Notes: As I was using thicker yarn, I adjusted the pattern to make the scarf the same width, I had 36 stitches and not 48.
