Reset

Over the last few months, I have been trying to keep two blogs… One devoted to knitting and the other in my attempts into being a domestic goddess, as a result I have done extremely well at ignoring both of them! I have just had to pay for the renewal of this domain and for a long time I thought about letting it lapse… but then I thought I used to love writing this blog and it does serve as a great memory of everything I have been up to.

So I have decided to just keep the one blog (this one), but am going to take some of the ascepts of the other blog (my attempts at cooking, my favourite things for each month and some of my adventures in London) and add them here!

To add to this reset, I am also going to restart my list for Day Zero. I still don’t have 101 things (at the moment it is around 50)

I have been having a few problems with my web server over the holiday period and as a result have been unable to blog about some of the amazing things that have been happening in chez princessdeia.

I have been having a few problems with this blog… hopefully it should be resolved in the next few day and then we are getting a face lift – until them I am sorry of the appearence.

Also I have recently had a few comments left about The Short Row Rib Scarf I made at the beginning of the year… I don’t have a copy of the pattern but it is available here.

Blogging

So I had a few hours free today whilst travelling, and I thought this would be the perfect time to blog about my birthday week. So I packed the laptop and camera, sat down to start typing and realised I had left the USB cable at home. At first I thought about just writing the post without photos, but then I got thinking about the whole blog process.

When I started this blog, it was to post about my hobby, writing about my works in progress or finished objects. As I got more into the knitting community, I started “flashing my stash” or posting about swaps, as I got more into knitting, I could write about other aspects of the community, exhibitions and meet ups.

I got into a process for blogging. Planing a photo session, then taking photo, editing the pictures, uploading the photos and then finally writing the post.  For me the format worked and I stuck with it for the past few years.

However, it is obviously not working now… I don’t seem to have enough time to post. Also, I am not sure this blog is the best medium to post about knitting anymore. For me, I prefer to post my finished objects on Ravelry. In my opinion their layout works best of displaying finished items and any notes. I like having database of knowledge there and contributing towards it.

As I am re-reading this it seems to be a final post or “a Ravelry has taken over from blogging” post. Which it isn’t meant to be… I just think it is time for me to change this blog! I still want it to me mainly a knitting blog however, I guess it is time to diversify a little.

I would make this blog a bit more interactive, add some polls, or even some competitions. So I am going to start the interacting by asking about your blog. What is your writing process like? How often do you post? Do you think you post enough? Do you follow a structure, like WIP Wednesday or FO Friday? Let me know?

Updates

I haven’t done much knitting today… I have been busy updating my journal (boring technical stuff), I have upgraded WordPress to version 1.5.1 – and it all seems to be working well – including the comments and problems I was having about lost passwords.

I also have finally, installed CG-Amazon and What Tunes, so my sidebar is now nicely updated with my current music of choice and also for what book I am reading…

I have started my Secret Pal Questionaire, I was going to try and get my amazon wish-list displayed in the sidebar – but I don’t think the code works too well for Amazon UK, as it can’t find my list :(

Problems with Comments

I have found out a few people have been trying to leave comments here and getting all sort of errors – or registering and never getting their password sent – it’s an problem with WordPress and I am looking to resolve this soon.

In the mean time if you want to comment email me and I will register you – sorry about this :(

EDIT: I think this problem is now sorted – Sorry about the problems.
