Adventures…

Posted by Dee under Project Spectrum, Project Spectrum - Elements, Travels

So this weekend, we are off on our summer vacation!

I have packed away enough yarn to knit two pairs of socks. I was going to knit on the plane, but have decided it is time I attempt to finish The Friday Night Knitting Club (I put it down about six months ago and it has sat on the side all this time).

Of course, I have checked Knitmap and put together a list of stores I want to visit – it is a good job I have stopped that yarn diet!

I also figure that my time away is the perfect time to blog about all my finished projects so I have queued up some posts in my absence.

Finally, so this isn’t a photo less entry…

Plan Earth

Posted by Dee under General, Project Spectrum, Project Spectrum - Elements, Stash Along

Two months ago, I set myself some definate goals as part of Stashalong, I made a long list, , sorted out my stash, and even created a page to montiner my goals… and of course like all good plans it didn’t quiet work out that way.

I did suceed in using up most of my pink yarn – apart from the Knit Pick Shimmer (I still have no idea what I am going to use this yarn for), and I am now ready to start working with my earthy shades – yet again I have a list!

PS Earth Yarns
1. The Natural Dyed Studio – Alba, 2. KnitWitches Pure Silk, 3. Lorna Lace Solid Sock Yarn

I am planning on casting on another pair of Baudelaire socks in the green – ready for the Socktopus meet up on Thursday. a scarf in the silk and more socks in the brown – stashbusting with some leftover Lorna Lace.

Fire ATC
On a final note from PS3 – Fire, I recieved this lovely little fire faerie from Wanda.

Fun Post

Posted by Dee under Project Spectrum, Project Spectrum - Elements, Swaps

Mystery SwapI don’t have the time to commit to a long swap like Secret Pal, but I still love swaps, (it is the joy of getting post). I love the idea of the Mystery Swap, a parcel with a theme and a few years ago I had so much fun with the Project Spectrum Postcard Swap, so imagine my joy today when I got two interesting pieces of mail (along with a rather boring bank statement).

First was this parcel from Karin, as part of the Mystery Swap, she picked Miss Marple as the theme but as I have all the books, she is calling it “The Miss Marple package without a Miss Marple book” package… Karin thought the darker blue yarn would be perfect for the Reading-In-Bed Shrug (pdf file) – which I think is very Miss Marple.
Also included was some sock yarn, rose napkins, a pattern book and frog candle (not pictured).

Fire ATC

Pink SocksNext was an ATC as part of the PS3 – Elements, this firey creation was by Meg, she was lovely enough to also include a spring ATC for my collection – but for some reason I forgot to photograph it :S

As I am blogging about PS3 it make sense that I should show off my fire inspired knitting. My second pair of Pomatomus Socks this time in Knitwitches sock yarn.

The Neutral Tale

Postcard Swap August

This amazing postcard arrived on my doorstep this morning, the envelope was correctly addressed, the correct stamp for airmail and the postmark is from the 19th August, but it still took nearly two months to get here – I am sure it has an amazing tale to tell. It was my final postcard from the Project Spectrum Postcard Swap, created by Jody and Javajem for August, the Neutral month.

Grey DressI have been extremely busy at work over the last few weeks (hence the lack of updates), the top secret project we were working on over the summer is still on-going and hopefully, I can post some very exciting news soon!

To make matter worse, I am still working on my grey dress, and it is going very slowly 228 stitches per row. Last night, I was watching a movie and after 2 hours of knitting it didn’t seem to grow at all.

Purple

Postcard Swap June

A little late (but then I was also a little late at sending out my card), my June postcard from Lauren at Life’s Just Ducky, she include a lovely message “may you tiara always sparkle” which brought a smile to my face as I have been practicing wearing my tiara for the wedding (I know it is 9 months away), but I am trying to get use to it. :)

Purple ScarfWith my top secret projects still continuing and me running around, I have missed knitting, so I decided start a mini project that I can carry around in my bag. This purple skinny scarf was inspired by Russell Brand (I have been watching a lot of Big Brother’s Big Mouth). The yarn is Louisa Harding Kashmir Aran from my recent stash enhancement.

I was going to try finishing all my old project spectrum projects this month, and then try and get a head start on my August project (I am still unsure what I am going to make), but lolly has suggested a Clean Sweep month for September, so I guess I can get a real head start on my neutral project.

Blue Monday

Postcard Swap May

Over this weekend, I received my May postcard from Suzanne at Luscious Fibers as part of May’s Project Spectrum Postcard swap, with a lovely message about me trying to find balance whilst planning the wedding (I hope I haven’t become bridezilla).

I spent the majority of the weekend having a clear out – think of it as spring cleaning a little late. Because of limited space, I don’t really have a massive stash of wool – and I am always envious when I see other bloggers flash their stash, this sad box is my stash.

Blue Stash

  • The sky blue mohair, I brought on eBay last year, hoping to make Grecian Plait from Knitty, however, I found the wool to itchy to wear and so it has been hidden away.
  • The turquoise is aurora 8, I am hoping to turn into the Clutch Bag from One Skein.
  • Finally, the navy is aurora 4, which I am going to turn into a little cardigan – my World Cup knitting project.

Knitting NotionsI also realized my knitting notions and needles really need a better home, using some plastic bags does not look good – so what does one do – well obviously she knits herself a knitting bag. For a while know I have loved the Cleo Clutch from SPUN, which I think would be perfect for my notions and I thought I would double the pattern to make a larger bag to hold my projects.

April Project Spectrum Postcard Swap

Posted by Dee under General, Project Spectrum

Postcard Swap April

Postcard Swap AprilI received this amazing parcel from Laura this morning.

Inside the yellow jiffy bag along with a postcard was a yellow CD, including songs from the Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies (both of whom I adore) - she even included a song with yellow in the title :)

Also in the parcel was an Orange chocolate bar – wish I have to say went down rather nicely with my coffee :D

I always underestimate the generousity of strangers in exchange programs – I am always amazed and impressed – Thank you

ShrugIn Knitting news, my circular shrug is coming along amazingly, the five inches of rib at the beginning where time consuming even on 6mm needles as it has over 200 stitches, but the mock rib is easy and coming along great, I have about 2 more inches to go – then back to the normal rib.

Socks on the run

Postcard Swap March

First off I would like to thank Nessie for this amazing card, which was part of Project Spectrum’s Postcard Swap for March, it has completely inspired me to start scrapbooking.

I have been pretty busy with wedding plans at the moment and having no internet connection at home as met I have been unable to update. Good news is I have found my wedding dress, I have finished all the stationary, I was making for Jason’s cousin’s wedding, and we are having a new 24meg line sorted out next week, so back to the knitting and blogging. :)

Two Tone sock

With all the running around I have been going recently, I have found socks are the perfect project for on-the-run-knitting. In the spirit of project spectrum, I have decided to make my two tone socks in pink and grey. I have been experimenting with short row heels and I have to say, I think they will fit more snugly – I will have to see.
