100 Cups of Coffee

When uploading these photos for the #100cupsofcoffee project to Instagram, I messed up the numbering. So I have added these in the order they happened, which doesn’t tally with the little number icons.

Coffee & A Great Read #100cupsofcoffee

As I mentioned in my last 100 cups of coffee update, whilst in the Philippines. I use to pop to Starbucks every afternoon for 4 p.m. caffeine fix. All the travelling I did in October, gave me the ideal time to catch up with my reading. Ideal for travelling was The Good Immigrant, as the short essays where easy to dip into whilst waiting to board a plane or riding on a shuttle bus.

Breakfast Coffee #100cupsofcoffee
In Manila and Gibraltar, the cafes we used to have breakfast in served coffee in tiny cups. In London I have a large mug or “venti” cup with my breakfast. As a result I found in Manila, I needed several cups each morning to get my coffee buzz!

Fall 2016! #100cupsofcoffee
When I returned home in London, autumn was definitely here! My uniform for the Fall Season in 2016, became my “Her Universe” bomber jacket and a Pumpkin Spiced Latte!

Coffee & A Movie #100cupsofcoffee
At the end of October we were lucky enough to get tickets to the Doctor Strange Fan Screening in Leicester Square. Before the screening of the movie, the director and movie’s cast (including Benedict Cumberbatch.) did a short introduction.

Final PSL of the Season #100cupsofcoffee
When I discovered my local Starbucks had run out of Pumpkin Spice syrup at the before the end of October. It meant I didn’t get a P.S.L. on my birthday! So when I discovered another branch still had syrup in November. I took the opportunity to enjoy my last P.S.L. of the season.

Currently… August Edition

Currently August

Currently Knitting…  It’s was too hot to knit in August, so instead I have been planning which patterns I want to knit during the my autumn/winter seasons. (This really translations to me spending time on Ravelry looking at new patterns or buying yarn online).

Currently Watching… During most of August, I watched the Olympics. I stayed up early to watch the Opening Ceremony and continued setting my alarms to catch-all the “big” moments during the fortnight. For the rest of the month we have played catch up and trying to clear all the shows we DVRed during the Olympics.

Currently Listening to… We became obsessed with Stranger Things this summer (didn’t everyone). I discovered this playlist on Spotify which included all the songs featured in the TV show.

Currently Playing… I am still playing Pokémon Go, trying desperately to “catch ’em all” and fill my Pokédex. I still don’t have a Pikachu but I did catch this little guy last week.

Currently Loving… This warmer weather has been amazing. It has encouraged us to get out and walk (normally Pokemon Hunting). So far we have been walking along the Thames or exploring one of the amazing parks in the city. It has also given me an excuse to bring along my camera and take some photos of my favourite places.

100 Cups of Coffee

Once again, I am behind at writing my coffee drinking adventures, as part of my 100 cups of coffee project. Most of these coffees are from the spring.

Monmouth Coffee
On a rare occasion in early May, Jason and I had a weekend meeting in near London Bridge. This was the perfect chance to visit Borough Market and do a little shopping. No trip to the market is complete without a visit to Monmouth Coffee!

Another attempt of Spring
I have mentioned before that I love the @breakfastlondon instagram account, and use it for recommendations for new brunch spots. As Ling and I hadn’t met up of a while we thought we would try one of these places and have a fabulous spring brunch on the terrace of Urban Pantry.

Coffee & Cake
May (along with November) is Birthday month in our family. As much as I love buying presents for my family, I also find it stressful, so I tend to treat myself during a successful shop, to a break and cake!

Rebellious Coffee

When I was reading Rebel in the Sands, I was looking at photos of the book on Instagram, and I noticed a lot to mentions of Artisan Coffee Shop. This is one of my favourite coffee spots, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover the book was part written in the shop.
Coffee & Champagne

Finally, at the end of May to celebrate my sister’s birthday (and my successful present buying skills). We went for lunch at Valentina’s. Our favourite Italian restaurant have a bottomless lunch on Sundays, after drinking several glasses of prosecco I needed a coffee!

Currently Knitting… At the start of the month, I finished my Boomerang Shawl. Shortly afterwards I cast on my version of Denim Sky Cowl in shades of amber and dark brown.

Ombre Blue Boomerang Shawl

Currently Loving…  My obsession with bookstagram has been taken up a notch recently, as I discovered Litsy. This app combines instagram and goodread to produce a platform to review books, share you favourite quotes and beautiful photos. Litsy is currently only available on iOS.
Currently Reading… As the new Harry Potter book, The Cursed Child is being published at the end of July, This summer I thought I would re-reading the original novels, finishing the first two in June.

Currently Watching…  My television viewing this month has been all about Game of Thrones. As well as watching the amazing season six, I began to re-watched season one to five.

WARNING SPOILERS

Currently Feeling… Nostalgic!
Re-reading am amazing book series and re-watching one of my favourite television shows. Has made me reminiscing about the first time I read about Harry Potter going to Diagon Alley or the first time I watched the Battle of Blackwater. Now I want to re-read the Game of Thrones books and re-watch all the Harry Potter films.

Exploring
As I mentioned before, my sister and I had a little staycation in London. Which we used as an opportunity to check out some of our favourite neighbourhood. It was also a chance for us to re-visited some old haunts like Ealing.  We discovered our old favourite café had shut but did find a new cozy coffee shop.

Knitting!
For the first time in a few years I went to a knitting group. I meet up with Ling before hand, and we raided her shop for some pretty yarn. Once at knitting group, I was so excited to catch up with friends and actually knit, I forgot to take a photo. So the next morning I took a “catch-up” photo.

Pinball & Coffee
Time Out London recently published an amazing list of coffee shops (and what speciality coffee to order from each store). When reading the magazine, It was pleasing to see a few coffee shops in our local area for me to add to my list. First was Chief Coffee, a cool space with pinball machines in the basement. My favourite game was of course the Game of Thrones pinball machine.

Instagram Brunch

My favourite food to order brunch is avocado toast, ideally with a poached egg! I love trying variations of this simple meal – adding houmous, fresh tomatoes or even sweet chilli sauce. For me the perfect pairing for avocado toast is latte.

May was birthday month and this meant a lot of eating out! I love having a coffee after my meal, often as an alternative to dessert but some times to go with my pudding. One of my favourite coffees was a Vietnamese iced coffee at Foxlow. This twist on a traditional Vietnamese coffee is made with cold brew, poured over the condensed milk all served over ice.

Cold Brew
During the summer in the afternoon, I like to switch my coffee for a frappé or ice coffee, in recent years this has become a cold brew. Starbucks have started selling their version in the U.K. it is an interesting healthier addition to the summer menu. Especially as I’m trying to cut down my sugar consumption.

Marble Table
Over the last few months I have loved toying with my camera, I have brought several books and have read about composition and trends. Since then I have taken a lot of cliché photographs, my feet on patterned floors, manicured nails holding a nail varnish bottle and cups of coffee on a marble table #latteart.

Spring Coffee
Adding to this I have become one of those people who grab my camera when the sun comes out to take a few photos. We are lucky enough to have a large park and river walk near our house. Which seem to be my go to place to experiment with setting on my camera but also explore the different coffee stores.

Tsum Tsum & Coffee
Recently, I have started collecting tsum tsum, after nearly missing out on a complete Star Wars set, I popped down to the mall on “Tsum Tsum Tuesday” when the “Episode One” collection was released. The Jar Jar version had already sold out at lunchtime but I managed to get all the ones I wanted including the Queen Amidala.

Coffee & Cake
My sister and I planned a mini staycation in April. We used this opportunity to explore some of our favourite neighbourhoods in London, do some shopping, and checking out some local cafés for coffee and cake!

Currently… May Edition

currently may

Currently Knitting…  I took a break from knitting the Boomerang Shawl this month and have concentrated on knitting a little baby dress.

Currently Loving… Game of Thrones, once again I have become obsessed, staying awake to catch the first showing of the new episodes, reading analysis of each episode on several websites and then spending the next six days looking for spoilers for the next instalment.

Currently Eating…  Summer is here (supposedly), so I have started using my ice cream maker again, I love experimenting with new flavour combinations – this weekend was a combination of biscoff spread and chunks of biscoff biscuit.

Currently Reading…  Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton.

Currently Watching…  As well as Game of Thrones, I have watched iZombie on Netflix, being another Rob Thomas show – it is similar to Veronica Mars, but with the zombie twist.

Bookstagram

One of my goals this year was to read more and I’m always looking for inspiration for new books to read. As much as I love my kindle, I have always loved to potter in a book store and read the blurbs on the back of books, but more recently I have been using social media for ideas on what to read next. As a result my latest obsession has been looking at book photos on Instagram; I literally am judging a book by its cover.

Bookstagram has become a huge phenomenon in recent years, we live in an age where we all know that if a celebrity been seen wearing an item of clothing will cause that item to sell out in the shops and even expect celebrity endorsements on consumer goods. I recently read an article from the USA Today showing how books have become the latest trend on celebrities Instagram feeds, which is something that I love!

It might seem easier to search Goodread or Amazon from recommendations, but searching Instagram for #currentlyreading or #bookstagram, brings up thousands of photos, and can give you can insight into what’s hot at the moment. I have added several books to my “to read” shelf from Red Queen, Nowhere But Here and Rebel of the Sands.

The bibliophiles on Instagram carefully choreograph some amazing photos to show off what they are currently reading using themed candles, mugs, bookmarks or other props. As I mentioned I love my kindle, I don’t have a lot of physical books, or bookshelves filled with books, but I adore seeing other peoples – maybe when I get that larger dream home, I can have a library filled with books and a cozy reading nook.

Until then, I’ll spend my free time curled up in my bed with my kindle and attempt to post boring #socksunday photos showcasing some hand knitted socks and my plain kindle.

What are you reading at the moment? Where do you get inspiration for you next read from? Do you have a favourite bookstagram account I should be following?

100 Cups of Coffee

Mother's Day Coffee
For Mother’s Day at the beginning of March we had a lovely Sunday Roast in our local pub. The pub put on a special menu so and treated the mothers to prosecco and mini posies of flowers. What added to my mother’s day was the pub serving her favourite dessert an affogato (hot coffee poured over vanilla gelato),

On the Go
The following weekend, we arranged to celebrate a belated Mother’s Day with Jason’s mum. Since they moved further away from London, we have started meeting mid-way – which happens to be Cambridge. After an early start we hopped on the train with armed with coffee to being our adventure.

Happy Mail
I love writing letters, but recently have fallen behind. Determined to catch up on some correspondence and send out some important birthday cards before the day, I popped to my favourite coffee shop, armed with happy mail supplies to catch up.

Rose Latte
I follow a lot of curated accounts on Instagram, like @breakfastlondon, and @londoncoffeeshops. I kept noticing the same drink popping up – a Rose Latte from Farm Girl. I suggested to my sister we pop there for girly brunch on Saturday and discovered a long queue of people who obviously all had the same idea! After a short wait we had a lovely brunch and the prettiest coffee I’ve seen.

Coffee
After our brunch we continued our girly day, with some retail therapy. After walking around Notting Hill and some extensive shopping on Oxford Street, we stopped for a tea time coffee and refuelling. This was the first time I posted two coffees in a day!

6 on 6 -Black

I am so behind on my blog post series, between being ill last month and the mini vacation, I am still playing catch-up. I was going to forget about February’s 6 on 6 and move on to March’s, but then I realised I don’t actually own a lot of pink things, so I decided to do February’s really late!

6 on 6 - Black

“I only use black.. and sometimes dark shades of gray.”

6 on 6 - Black
Over the years I have collected a few Star Wars tins, (not all of them are black), most of them have had sweets in (I still fill them with tictacs), but I found the larger one in Marks & Spencer last year, it was filled with some pretty horrid biscuits, now it sits on my desk holding my favourite post-it notes and mini notepads.

6 on 6 - Black
Last year, I brought too much The Force Awakens merchandise, anything with Rey and a lot of BB8 stuff, I also got a kids play set in the Disney Store to use as part of our Christmas decorations in our bedroom.

6 on 6 - Black
My newest obsession is with Tsum Tsum (mainly due to the release of the Star wars plushies last month), my first Tsum Tsum was this Black Widow one, as I was so pleased to find a Black Widow collectible.

6 on 6 - Black
Most of my digital life is played out on my iPad, I tend to always buy my technological products in black. I have steadily been using my iPad more and more, to check my mail, read blogs and I hate to admit up but also to play games.
6 on 6 - BlackMy analogue life is played out in my Moleskine journal, I use this one for my daily to do list and nightly for some simple journalling/brain dumping.
