Knit by Nanas

Clapotis

My sister comment last night that my Clapotis looks like a giant Shreddie (which we all know are knitted by nanas), as I still haven’t worked out how to say Clapotis this is now the Shreddie’s Shawl!

I am not sure why is has taken me so long to get around to knitting this pattern, about 95% of it is basic stocking stitch so it can be knitted whilst watching T.V. From what I have read it is easy to knit one in a week or less (of course you need to have some free time), and you don’t have to worry about gauge. I am already planning my second Mini-Clap!

This little beauty appeared on the plant last week - it has now been joined by 8 little siblings

Three months on…

Peaches & Creme - Stash

So after three months of stash-busting, I have finally brought some yarn! I read on Ravelry about Crafty Cottage stocking Peaches and Creme Cotton in the U.K. and I had to give it a try! Jo offers nearly all the shades of Peaches N Creme and a fantastic service, the yarn arrived the next day, there was a slight error with my order, but she quickly sorted out the problem and sent me an extra ball for compensation, now I can’t wait to get knitting.

Original my stash-busting plan was not to buy any yarn in February and March and to try and use up all my pink and orange yarns, as it turns out I ended up knitting a lot slower that I thought and as it ended up, I didn’t buy any yarn in April! I am currently working through my green and brown yarn as part of PS3-Earth.

Part of my plan was to also donate all the money I saved from buying yarn to charity, but I have decided to give the extra savings to Ravelry - even though Ravelraising is over, the amount of time I spent online it makes sense. Speaking of Ravelraising did you check out the list of prize-winners :D , I was completely shocked!

Chili Plant

Filed under: Project Spectrum - Elements — Dee @ 2:02 pm

I have always dreamed on owning a garden, instead of the little yard you tend to end up with living in London, I don’t want much, a few flowerbeds, a hanging basket or two, and a simple water feature Of course an area to sit outside and eat on long hot summer nights. The problem with this dream (apart from me thinking we will get sun in London), is I know nothing about gardening!

Every spring, my mother-in-laws orders her bulbs and flowers plugs and spends a long weekend potting the plants. Last summer she brought a strawberry pot, and various herbs. I helped her carefully pick out what the best herbs for cooking would be, basil to make pesto, mint to add to potatoes or lamb, chives to add to salads and lavender to make little sachets with. The plan was that this summer, I could buy my own pot take cuttings and have my own little herb garden in my yard. What we didn’t count on was the slugs in Hertfordshire having such high culinary tastes and eating all the plants.

Chilli Plant

So this spring we have decided to tone it down a little, as a late Easter gift she brought me this Chili Pepper Kit, which even I should be able to grow on my windowsill. I planted it up this weekend and have been keeping it indoors for the moment because of the frost. Hopefully I will be making Sweet Chili Sauce by the end of the year.
