Tsum Tsum Fantasy List

The Five Tsum Tsum I Wish They Would Make

I have previously written about the Funko I Wish They Would Make or Fantasy Funko List. But seeing as my Tsum Tsum collection is larger than my Funko collection. I figured I would put together a fantasy Tsum Tsum list. I have tried to be true to Tsum Tsum and only include characters from franchises Disney own. Obviously, I would love it if they started making DC Comic Tsum Tsum or ones based on Game of Thrones characters. Imagine a Jon Snow or Ghost Tsum Tsum. But this list only includes Star Wars or Marvel characters.

  1. Agent Carter

    via GIPHY

Disney did release a Women of Marvel collection of Tsum Tsum last year. Oddly the set did include Sharon Carter, but not her aunt! I would love to see a Peggy Carter version. Especially if it included on her iconic outfit from the first season complete with red hat.

  2. Jessica Jones

    via GIPHY

Likewise, It was surprising that Jessica Jones wasn’t included in the Womem of Marvel collection. Other member of The Defenders like Luke Cage and Iron Fist are all missing from the collection. So hopefully, they will be a future collection.

  3. Bodhi Rook
    Bodhi Rook
The movies relating to the Skywalker Saga have all had the Tsum Tsum treatment including The Force Awakens. However, Star Wars: Rogue One never had a collection. I would love all the characters but especially, Bohdi Rook.
  4. Ahsoka Tano

    Ashoka Tano
Again The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, do not have Tsum Tsum collections. Some of the Clone Wars characters appeared in the Attack of the Clones collection, those that appeared in the film as well. However, as Ahsoka Tano didn’t appear in the movies she was not included.
  5. Porg

    via GIPHY

I know I am not the only person obsessed with Porgs? Seeing how popular all the Porg merchandise has been. I am assuming it’s only a matter of time before we get a cute Porg Tsum Tsum.

Star Wars Identities

Star Wars Identities at The O2 London is more than just a show of props from the movies. Instead, it is an interactive experience exploring what elements make an identity, against the back drop of the Star Wars universe. Saying that if you are looking for an exhibition showcasing props, costumes and artwork from the movies, there are over 200 on display.

Star Wars Identities Experience

The Star Wars Identities Experience has toured around the world for the last few years. It started in Canada in 2012 before heading to Europe, first in Paris and now London. Because the experience is over five years ago, there is no mention of the newer movies. In fact, the only reference to The Force Awakens is a model of BB-8. Instead, the focus is more on the original trilogy and prequels. There is even a large section devoted to Jar Jar Binks!

Upon entering the experience we received an interactive wristband and audio tour headset. We watched a brief video, in which they quickly outlined how a personality is formed. Giving the examples of how both Luke and Anakin are from the same planet. Yet ended up having very different identities.

Star Wars IdentitiesStar Wars Identities

There are ten stations in the exhibit. Each one designed to shape your character in the Star Wars universe. Some stations are as simple as picking which species you will be, or which planet you will live on. Others related more to your personality, for example, do you have an altruistic or egoistic drive. Each station features scenes from the movies. Or has artwork or props from the Star Wars mythology to accompany it.

Star Wars IdentitiesStar Wars Identities

At the final station just like Luke and Anakin, you are asked by the Emperor, if you wish to join the dark side. Then you can meet your character. One final tap of your wrist band reveals your Star Wars Identity on a giant screen. It would have been nice if you could have an actual print-out copy of your Star Wars Identity, photo and personality breakdown, however, that was not the case.

As a Star Wars fan, I loved the experience! I had been to Star Wars exhibitions, so I had seen a lot of the props and costumes before. This was an interesting twist on a traditional exhibition. I also loved thinking about what my role would be in the Star Wars Universe! I opted to be an X-Wing pilot and member of the Rebellion.

Geek Girl Guide to London

I love reading travel blogs, dreaming about all the places I would love to visit. What I love even more is reading tips from locals about their area. My favourites are tips for Disneyworld by Floridians (one day I will go back). I am a Londoner, I was born here and still stay in the same area. For all the wrong reasons London has been in the news a lot lately. I want to start writing about all the great things in this city.

Geek Girl Guide

Geek Girl Guide to London
London is an amazing place to be a  geek girl! I thought I would put together some tips and tricks from a local for other geek girls visiting the city. Everyone knows about the historic buildings, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and more modern attractions like the London Eye or Shard. I love to explore the geekier attractions!

Dozens of television shows and movies are filmed in London, from Jason Bourne to James Bond, even the recent Wonder Woman film featured a few scenes in the city. It is easy to find these locations on your own. However, you can take an organised tour (both bus and walking) around some of these locations. A quick search online can show you all the options from specialist tours for fans of Harry Potter to places include in British Rom Coms.

London isn’t just about film locations, the city has many museums and exhibits with a geeky twist. Currently, there are also several temporary exhibitions perfect for a fangirl. The Star Wars Identities at the O2, a journey into Sci-Fi at the Barbican. and at the end of the summer, the British Library will showcase their Harry Potter collection of manuscripts and props.

Westminister

London also hosts several conventions. In May over the same weekend, two of the convention centres in London held cons. MCM London in the east and Heroes and Villains in the west of the city. Last summer, Star Wars Celebration was held in the city. Still, to come this year are London Film Convention and the Vampire Ball.

Escape Games (or Escape the Room scenarios) are all the rage at the moment, with locations popping up all over the world. Whilst these, in general, are fun for a geek girl, there are several in London that have added to the geekiness by adding a pop culture theme. Including one set in a wizarding school or another based around the disappearance of Sherlock Holmes.

Even going to the cinema in London can be an adventure. Secret Cinema has taken to film going to a new level. They recreating the fantasy world from the movie, resulting in an interactive experience rather than just watching a film. Or how about a movie marathon? The Prince Charles Cinema regularly has all-nighters including Marvel Phase One and Harry Potter marathons.

What is your favourite fangirl thing to do in London? Do you have a London themed Bucket List? What would you like me to write about in the Fangirl Guide series? Let me know in the comments below.

Star Wars Gift Guide

For May the Fourth, I created a guide of some of my favourite Star Wars themed merchandise. It used to be as a Star Wars Fangirl if you wanted to express your fandom it was restrictive. You could wear a patch or badge. Maybefind a keyring. Or wear unisex t-shirt, which was often unflattering.

Now that has all changed. Design companies like Loungefly are working with Lucasfilm. Together they are creating innovative accessories for the female market. Independent Designers can also create interesting items to sell on Etsy, or t-shirt du jour websites like Teepublic. So today, fangirls can express themselves everyday in many ways.

Jacket // Make-up Pouch // Charm
Necklace// Collared Top // Wrap Bracelet
Coin Purse // Scarf

Jewellery is one of my favourite ways to show off my love of Star Wars. Everytime I wear my Love and Madness opening crawl cuff, I get compliments. I also adore their Leia necklace in discreet enough to wear to work and still show off your fandom.

I recently discovered the UK-based website EMP are selling some of the Her Universe collection. Including the 40th anniversary Bomber Jacket. Before, I have had to order direct from American website, paying as much in postage and customs, as I did for the dress. So I was to see some items available here. I hope EMP start selling more items in the future.

Currently… January Edition

currently January

Currently Knitting… Pink Pussyhat.
I adored seeing the images of sea of pink hats at the Women’s March. I didn’t have time to knit a hat before the protest, but still want to be part of this amazing project. So I have just started knitting a pink hat.

Currently Reading… Batgirl: Silent Running

This year, I set myself a Goodread Challenge to read 24 books. Their challenges include Graphic Novels so I am planning on reading at least one a month. This month I have re-read the first Cassandra Cain, Batgirl book.

Currently Watching… House of Cards

I think everyone has that one TV programme they have yet to watch. The programme all your friends have watched but for some reason you missed watching. For me it was House of Cards. With all the events happening in U.S. politics this month it seemed like the right time to start watching this award-winning series.

Currently Listeining to… Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording)
I managed to get tickets for one of the West End performances for Hamilton, since then I have had the soundtrack on a loop at home.
Currently Loving… Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Last week, they released the official title of Star Wars Episode 8. Since then I have chatted to friends and speculating about what the title means. Who is the Last Jedi? As Jedi is also the plural is there more than one last Jedi? Does this mean we will get a major death? Is Leia a Jedi? So many questions we will have to wait until December to get our answers.

6 on 6 – Gold

I loved taking part in the 6 on 6 photo challenge last year. Unfortunately, In November I didn’t have time to take any “gold” photos. So in took them in December and did not have get around to post them to the blog. But seeing as I enjoyed the project I figured I would post them now to complete the challenge, even if they do include some Christmas photos!

I couldn’t include a tsum tsum in these photos, I incorporated my C-3PO tsum tsum in the July (he still looks yellow not gold to me). I have included Star Wars iconic golden droid. From the cover of my moleskine journal and Santa version (from 2015 Lego Advent calendar).

I mentioned before, how I love charm bracelets, this is my newest version which only has a few charms. I stopped wearing glasses 10 years ago, but sometimes still miss it. This “glasses” ring is a way for me to show my nerdy side.

Review of the Year

2016 REVIEW OF THE YEAR

I have put together a little Review Of The Year Blog Tag. Just a few questions to talk about some of the highs and a low of 2016. Feel free to join in and use the graphic. I look forward to reading your answers.

Highlight – What one great thing happened to you this year.
Losing so many icons this year, has been truly awful. It’s hard to think of highlights. But I did have a few. Finally, visiting Barcelona in March, Star Wars Celebrations in July and attending the Fan Screening of Doctor Strange in October.

Surprise – Be it TV show, film, game etc. that impressed you the most.
This answer is the little odd for me, for the majority of the year it’s been Stranger Things. But last week I watched The OA. Beforehand, I knew nothing about this show, hadn’t read any reviews, didn’t know about the cast etc. I just saw a tweet that claimed it was the new Stranger Things. Within two days I went from never hearing of the show to full on obsession.

New Fandom – Did you gain a new obsession in 2016?
So I am a little late to the game with this one, but Hamilton has become my latest obsession! I am hoping to get tickets to see the West End production of the show next year.

The Comeback Kid – Was one of your fandoms rebooted, re-released, or re-imagined.
I guess Gilmore Girls. I did have some objections with the show (I hope to write about it soon). But it was so lovely to visit Stars Hallow once again.

Still going strong? – did one TV show have an amazing season. Or did a book series have a truly impressive release this year.
Game of Thrones! I was a little concerned about season six as it was the first season that didn’t use the books as a guide. However, the season extremely impressed me (especially with the Battle of the Bastards episode).

Biggest disappointment of the Year.
The Killing Joke movie. I wrote about my disappointment of the movie adaption. I had really been looking forward to this movie. I arranged to go to the special screening in our local cinema and left feeling upset and disappointed.

Event of the year – be it a convention, viewing party, geek girl brunch etc.
Star Wars Celebrations! I reviewed my experiences here.

What are you looking forward to next year.
I guess it will start with new episodes of Sherlock in January.
Our 10 year wedding anniversary in March.
Films I am looking forward to including Lego Movie: Batman, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star Wars 9!

Quick Fire Round

TV Show of the Year: Stranger Things
Movie of the Year: Rogue One
Game of the Year: Pokémon Go
Book of the Year: The Good Immigrant (non-fiction) and Rebels of the Sands (fiction)
Album of the Year:  The Hamilton Mixtape

5FF: Favourite Fictional Teachers

Five Favourite Fictional Teachers

As The Nerdy Girlie & Super Space Chick are taking a break from Fandom Friday, I thought I would use the chance to catch up with the prompts from October 2015. I originally thought it would be easy to pick my favourite fictional teachers. I adore a lot of teen drama television programmes like, Smallville or My So Called Life. But I couldn’t think of any teachers from these programmes.

  1. Rupert Giles (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

    via GIPHY

Do Watchers count as teachers? I know Giles worked in the school library, and wasn’t really a teacher. But he was a trainer for Buffy and a mentor to the other members of the Scoobies Gang. Over seven seasons, whether Giles was a member of the Watcher’s council or the owner of the magic store. He was always loyal to Buffy.

  2. Yoda (Star Wars)

    via GIPHY

The first time we meet Yoda he was teacher to Luke, but in the prequel films and Clone Wars, we saw Yoda sit on the Jedi Council. Teach the younglings and mentor Jedi Masters and Padawans. So in a way Yoda was the Jedi Masters’ Master.

  3. Remus Lupin (Harry Potter Series)

    via GIPHY

Of all of Harry’s teachers at Hogwarts, Lupin was my favourite. I have a soft spot for the Marauders. (I am still hoping for a Marauder’s book or movie). Lupin was one of many father figures that came into Harry’s life. During his time at Hogwarts, he became a teacher and mentor to Harry Potter and his friends.

  4. Roland “Prez” Pryzbylewski (The Wire)

    via GIPHY

Prez was useless as a police officer, he was controlled by his father in law. He did not suit field work but did managed to find some success on the office listening in on the wire. But it wasn’t until the fourth season of the show, when he began working at the school that he found his place. Prez tried to help the kids stay “off the corners.” Ultimately drugs ended up affecting each member of the gang.

  5. Mary Margaret Blanchard (Once Upon A Time)

    via GIPHY

During the first season of Once Upon A Time. Mary Margaret was Henry’s school teacher, she was even the one that gave him the “storybook.” During this period I loved he haircut and clothes, if I ever became a teacher she would be my style icon for my work wardrobe. In the current season, it looks like Mary Margaret will be going back to teaching. So I am looking forward to seeing more of her amazing outfits.

5FF- Five Geeky Clothing I Need…

5 Fandom Friday

Five Geeky Clothing I Need in My Closet Immediately.

As The Nerdy Girlie & Super Space Chick are taking a break from Fandom Friday, I thought I would use the chance to catch up with the prompts from October 2014, this week discussing the five geeky items of clothing I need. The real reason most of these dresses are on this list is because the are from stores in the USA, and I don’t want to pay the postage or customs fees.

Geeky Clothing

  1. Agent Carter Dress – Her Universe
I adore the idea of a cute everyday cosplay dress. A dress that I could wear to conventions or movie opening nights. If there is one company that has cornered the market in everyday cosplay it is Her Universe. This Agent Carter dress was my favourite from the recent “Women of Marvel” collection.
  2. Galactic Scavenger Dress – Elhoffer Design
For a more customized everyday cosplay dress, my favourite company is Elhoffer Designs. I wanted to order the “Rey” dress to wear at Star Wars Celebrations,  but left ordering it too late.
  3. Sithkura Dress – Her Universe
Of course, as a geek I don’t just want to show my geekiness at conventions. I want to show it off everyday. This Darth Vader dress is in my favourite style and is perfect for spring or summer.
  4. Vader Embossed Dress– We Love Fine
Everyone needs a little black dress, don’t they? What better than a dress with embossed Vader masks, subtle enough to wear everyday (or night) and show off your geeky pride.
  5. Rogue One Tee
After seeing the new Rogue One trailer last week, I wanted a Rogue One tee, instead of just wearing a normal Star Wars one. This was my favourite t-shirt from the new collection.
