I don’t really talk about non-crafty things in this journal I have a livejournal that I use for that kind of thing, But once in a while something amazing happens and it has to be recorded everywhere.
On the 16th January – 8 years after I started dating Jason we decided to get engaged. We had been talking about it for ages and brought the ring earlier this year – but decided to make it official whilst in Chicago on our anniversary.
Our wedding is now booked for next March and I am completely in wedding mode, as I prepare to no longer be a “miss.”
Needless to say very little knitting has been done and to make matters worst I have taken up scrapbooking to try and archive our engagement and wedding – now I really need an extra hour in the day.

Well the rest of my holiday involved baseball, eating and a whole lot of drinking. In Chicago I didn’t manage to get to Arcadia, and so didn’t manage to buy anything from my knitting shopping list, I did find Close Knits in Evanston (it was near one of the bars we drunk in), and get a Clover Chibi Jumbo Darning Needles set – in green not pink.
Also on the drive back to New York, we spend the night in a motel and in the morning I discovered we were across the road from a Jo-Ann, I wasn’t overly impressed with there selection – however, did get some great wool for summer scarves.

Still no knitting has been done â I thought I might be having withdrawals â but no shaking as yet.
I have been doing some research online for stores and have planned a few store I want to visit â I am going into Evanston this afternoon â to hopefully get some goodies.
Whilst in Barnes and Noble (getting my coffee fix in Starbucks), I was reading the back cover of At Knit’s End, it asks if you have ever planned a holiday around visiting yarn stores â oh dear I can tick that box too now.
Finally, today is Knitting in Public Day, and as we might be going to the beach at Evanston â hopefully I will get some wool and needles and can join in.

So finally I have a chance to update my journal. I made a decision not to bring any knitting on holiday with me â this is meant to be a chance for Jason and I to spend time together without worrying about his sleep patterns because of his shifts, and I didnât think we would appreciate me knitting on the plane or in hotel rooms â of course now I really miss my needles.
With the pound being so strong against the dollar I had to do some shopping (not to much so far I am pacing myself). But I had to go to the Motherland â and as we were staying two blocks away from 5th Avenue I went to Tiffanyâs and brought myself a rather lovely âdâ? necklace â well I had to treat myself â I also brought my sister a matching âaâ? necklace, so we really will look like sisters – tacky I know.
Yesterday we went to Soho and of course a trip to knittersâ New York Motherland, Purl Soho. I decided to treat myself (again) and brought the current IK â I never brought a copy of the magazine before â but was looking for some inspiration for more summer knits. Whilst flicking through the books, I saw a few ideas for presents for my Secret Pal, but I want to do a little research online first to find out which one is the best book. But I did pick up a copy of Last Minute Gifts for myself.
Last night as I was leafing through Last Minute Gifts, I was really missing my wool and needles â however, I now have an even longer list of things I want to knit and I still have to read IK. But in Chicago, I am determined to buy some wool to go with my Denise Inter-changeable Needles.
I also got an email from my the person spoiling me – and I have a parcel waiting for me at home

Well it looks like I might be going to America next week (hopefully leaving on the 4th), because flights are so expensive to Chicago we are going to have to go via New York, which of course means a trip to Purl Soho
Last night I couldn’t sleep and I was mentally planning my shopping list.
So far I have
- Denise Inter-changeable.
- Clover Chibi Jumbo Darning Needles.
- Clover Knitting Counter Kacha-Kacha.
I am planning a felted bag for my knitting bits and bobs, so I want to get some Cascade 220.
I have been hunting around online today, and there’s Jo-ann near where we are staying in Chicago so hopefully, I can get some bargain in there – and of course, I have to plan a trip to Arcadia.
Jason should be booking the tickets tomorrow and then I can really plan the whole trip.
