Halloween 2019 in London

As it is October it is time for me to write one of my favourite blog posts of the year, “The Geek Girls Guide in Halloween in London”. Each year I love researching the scary and geeky activities available in London over the Halloween weekend! As the popularity of Halloween continues to grow in the UK, there are so many spooky events happening this week. So, for this guide to Halloween 2019, I have aimed to pick those that are based around TV shows, or movies.

Geek Girls Guide to Halloween 2019 in London

1. Stranger Pins – Bloomsbury Bowling

In the last few years when you think about spooky TV programmes, the one show comes to mind is Stranger Things. And as a result, there are several events based around the programme happening in London this week. Aside from the retro club nights, my pick is a Stranger Things themed Bowling Night at Bloomsbury Bowling.

2. Fright Nights – Thorpe Park

Every year, Thorpe Park introduces Fright Nights in October to celebrate Halloween. In previous years, they have created a maze centred around the Saw movies and The Walking Dead. However, this year’s maze is based on the Blair Witch Project. The theme park is also offering an upgrade to your ticket to include an Escape Room experience.

3. Horror Movie Nights – Rivoli Ballroom

You may recognise the historic Rivoli Ballroom from The Avenger: Age of Ultron (it’s in the scene from Captain America’s dream). This beautiful ballroom in Crofton Park has been transformed back into a cinema. And over the Halloween weekend is screening some classic scary movies. You can choose from Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween or The Shining.

4. Joker’s Nightmare – Duo Camden

The Joker seems to be THE movie at the moment. So it seems only right to include a Joker themed event to the Halloween list for 2019. DUO London is known for their themed nights and their Joker themed night includes a range of events. Including entertainment and impersonators, along with a line up of DJs on the night. If you are looking for something a little less scary they also have Mean Girls Halloween party next weekend.

5. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Night – Ritzy London

My favourite type of Halloween monster has to be a vampire and the best fandom involving vampires has to be Buffy! Upstairs at the Ritzy Cinema will be transformed into a 90’s extravaganza with Subterranean Popular performing 90’s music and a DJ playing music featured in the TV programme.

My Hacks

Of course, the ultimate Geek Girl Halloween event in London is the “Hogwarts After Dark” dinner at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. This event always sells out early (in the summer month). So if you are thinking of going next year, I suggest adding a reminder to Alexa to look for tickets for next year! This year, tickets went on sale on the 30th July, so look set your reminder for the last weekend in July.
