Currently September 2022

September 2022 is a month for the history books. The UK spent the first half of the month of mourning following the death of The Queen. In the week that followed, New stations ran on all channels 24 hours a day. As the whole country becomes obsessed with The Queue. For me personally, I began embracing autumn, obsessing over The House of the Dragon and pumpkin-spiced everything!

Currently Reading…

These are the books I read in September. I am working on a round-up post of my favourite books that I have read this autumn. So watch this space.

Currently Watching…

The Great British Bake Off

Autumn TV means the return of The Great British Bake Off! We have a tradition of getting snacks to match each week’s theme on the show. Scoffing our faces and watching. Enjoying both the disastrous bakes and the Handshake-worthy desserts. Of course, we always try to guess who Star Baker will be and who is going home each week.

House of the Dragon

At the end of last month, I got dragged back into the land of Westeros! From the first episode of House of the Dragon, I was addicted. The opening scene of Rhaenyra flying on her dragon over King’s Landing hooked me. My love for the show grew when I was Daemon sitting on the Iron Throne AND speaking Valyrian. In September, I became more and more addicted to the programme. As it reminded me why I loved Game of Thrones in the first place.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

There seemed to be more anticipation than the hype surrounding the start of The Ring of Power. As a result, I was unsure of what to expect from this programme. Having heard the rumours about the cost of each episode. I was expecting something visually spectacular, which the show definately is. Like with House of the Dragon, I enjoyed returning to familiar locations. Seeing the creatures I loved from The Lord of the Rings, but with a new aspect of the journey. Of course, I have spent a lot of this month also watching YouTube videos of theories around The Ring of Power. Falling down a Subreddit rabbit hole reading different theories and speculations. I need to know who Halbrand is!

Andor

Rogue One is one of my favourite Star Wars movies, so I was very excited about Andor! One of my favourite things about the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show is when they showed the other side of the Star Wars universe. Not the epic battles but Ben in his everyday life. Seeing people going about their business trying to survive in the time of the Empire. Andor expands on this in leaps and bounds, and I love it! The first two episodes were a little slow, setting the stage and introducing all the characters. But the third episode picked up and then some.

She-Hulk

I am disappointed in She-Hulk I wanted to love this show. The cast is marvellous. The focus on a female hero is something I always love. The Marvel comedy aspect again is something I enjoy. On paper, She-Hulk looks like a show I should love. But, I had to admit this show isn’t for me, and that is alright. With over 20 movies and dozen TV programmes, I am not going to love everything Marvel does, and I am okay with that. But now I am only continuing to watch this show waiting for Daredevil to show up.

Adventure of the Month

Star Wars Return of the Jedi at the Royal Albert Hall

Like most people, we brought tickets for events in 2020, some got cancelled, and others got postponed. This month we got to enjoy one of those postponed events. Seeing Return of the Jedi at the Royal Albert Hall, watching the movie whilst the London Symphony Orchestra performed the soundtrack. Seeing a classic film with a live orchestra in one of London’s iconic venues was definitely on my bucket list, and I am happy to have crossed this off.

Monthly Buys

September 2022 Buys
  1. Starbuck PSL Charm Tumbler
September is the start of Pumpkin Spice Latte season! This year, Starbucks in the UK has added a fantastic collection of mugs and tumblers. I adored the pumpkin mug and this reusable PSL tumbler. Using a tumbler is good for the environment, and over the last year, I have been buying seasonal ones. Last year, I got a ‘Red Cup’ from Starbuck, so this is an exciting addition to my collection.
  2. Star Wars Grogu Candy Bowl
I always think about Halloween and not just because it’s my birthday. But it’s also my favourite holiday. I am always on the lookout for cute Halloween decorations for our home. One of my favourite places to look is the Disney Store. This candy bowl ticked all my boxes, as it is both Star Wars and Halloween-themed!
  3. Revolution X Game of Thrones Arya Stark Lip Bomb
I do love a fandom-based Make-up collection! This year Revolution Beauty has done some fabulous collaborations, from Batman to Friends. However, they think that caught my eye this month is the Arya Stark lip Bomb from their Game of Thrones collection. Did I mention that I am obsessed with all things Westeros this September?
  4. Hotel Chocolat Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate
Traditionally Pumpkin-Spice Lattes are my autumn drink. This year, I am happy to confess there is a contender to the PSL, a Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate from Hotel Chocolat. As I can no longer drink caffeine in the afternoon, I like to have hot chocolate on colder days. Since getting a Velvetiser, I have loved trying all the flavour options available, and the Pumpkin Spice was my favourite from the new autumnal range.
  5. The White Company Autumn Candle
I love making the house all cosy for autumn, adding throw pillows and blankets to the sofas and beds. Decorating the mantel and bannister with autumn leaves. Plus, ceramic pumpkins and candles are on every available surface! My go-to seasonal scents are candles from The White Company. The Autumn candle is no exception, with its rich orchard scent, perfect for cosy autumn nights.
