Baby Yoda, my Crocheted Children

At the end of 2019, the world became obsessed with Baby Yoda and I was no different. I also upset about the lack of merchandise based on my favourite new character! I did find an Itty Bitty plush, which is really just a kawaii Yoda toy, which sort of looks like Baby Yoda. But not to be undone, I decided to make my own plush version of The Child! As I mentioned in my Geeky Resolutions post, this year I wanted to start making amigurumi figures.

Itty Bitty Yoda & Baby Yoda

I learned to crochet around the same time I learnt to knit as a child. In the 90’s I made granny square bags for my school friends and even a large afghan as a gift from a friend that was moving away. When I rediscovered my love of knitting in my 20’s I also tried crocheting again. However, I found the difference in American and British terms confusing so didn’t pursue crocheting any further. Until now, with the wonder of Youtube helped me re-discover crocheting and quickly master amigurumi.

Of course, I didn’t stop at one! After following October in the Chair’s pattern, I made my own smaller version, as a gift for a friend. This time based more on the style of the Itty Bitty figures (no feet, and flatter arms). I also added some details to the face, eyebrows and a nose. As well as making the inside of the ears pink.

Baby Yoda's

So now I have my own little family of Baby Yoda. I am hoping to add to once more official merchandise is released, to create a mini little shrine. But the big question is what do you call a collection of Baby Yoda? Children? Assets? Yogi?
